“State Triathlon Championship – Plovdiv 2023”, took place last weekend (12-13 August) with swimming in the Rowing Channel, moving on to cycling and finishing with a run around the rowing base. This is the second race of the Bulgarian Triathlon Association (BTA) State Calendar and the first with a record number of participants this year. Nationally represented sports clubs, members of BAT, as well as carded athletes from Ukraine, Turkey and North Macedonia – all divided into 6 age groups and separate starts – took part in the race. The start on Saturday began with three of the age groups: ‘Men/Women’+19 years, ‘Juniors/Women’ 17-18 years and ‘Seniors’ 15-16 years. On Sunday 13 August, the younger age groups took part: ‘Junior Age’ 13-14, ‘Children’ 11-12 and the youngest ‘Benjamin’ 10 years and under.
The national competitor Alexander Bozhilov from SCPST “Cosmos” – Sofia deservedly won the gold award in Men +19 years, next to him on the podium for the silver medal, climbed Boris Andreev from SCT “Tri Team” – Sofia, the bronze won Borislav Palashev from SCT “Palashev” – Pazardzhik. In the final of Women +19, the gold medal went to Gergana Stoyanova from SCT “Palashev” – Pazardzhik, the silver – Anastasia Peicheva from SCT “Palashev” – Pazardzhik, the bronze went to Victoria Danova from SCT “Tri Team” – Sofia.

In the state championship took part athletes from 14 clubs of the Bulgarian Triathlon Association, as in the team ranking, the results ranked first SCPT “Cosmos” – Sofia, second SC “Triathlete” – Banya and third SCT “Palashev” – Pazardzhik.
The President of the Bulgarian Triathlon Association – Dragomir Boyadzhiev thanked for the kind hosting of the Municipality of Plovdiv, the regional organization of the Bulgarian Red Cross for the volunteers provided, as well as all the participants and the audience.
